Leontini Archaeological Site

Leontini is the ancient Greek city located at the site of modern Lentini in eastern Sicily. It was established in the Archaic period and became a significant local centre in classical times.

Founded as a Greek colony in the first centuries of the first millennium BC, the city participated in the political and military networks of Sicilian Greek polities and later came under Roman influence and control. Over the centuries urban fortunes rose and fell with regional power struggles.
