Leineschloss

Leineschloss is the historic palace on the Leine river in central Hanover, Lower Saxony. It functions today as the seat of the Lower Saxony state parliament.

The complex is chiefly notable for its riverfront architecture and its role as a functioning parliamentary building. Visitors typically view the exterior facades along the Leine and may access public galleries or tours when the parliament is sitting and public visits are arranged.

The site originated as a ducal residence on the Leine and developed into the principal palace for regional rulers from the early modern period. It suffered heavy damage during World War II and was subsequently rebuilt and adapted to house modern parliamentary functions.

Leineschloss occupies a central position in Hanover on the bank of the Leine river, within the city’s historic core and a short walk from other civic buildings.
