Lapathus (Cyprus)
Administrative Seat Ancient city-kingdom ruins on Cyprus' northern coast
Lapathus (Lapithos) on Cyprus’s northern coast preserves remains of an ancient coastal town near Kyrenia, with archaeological traces and access to nearby beaches.
Larisa (the Larisa hill) is the fortified acropolis hill overlooking the ancient city of Argos in the Peloponnese region of Greece. It has served as the dominant strongpoint above Argos since antiquity.
Larisa has been occupied since the Bronze Age and was an important fortified acropolis in classical and later periods; the hilltop contains successive remains from Greek, Byzantine and Frankish phases of occupation. Fortifications and masonry visible today reflect a long sequence of reuse and rebuilding.
Immediately adjacent to the modern town of Argos in the Peloponnese, the hill dominates the local plain and is a short walk from the town center.
- Viewpoints: Summit viewpoints give wide views over the Argolic plain and the Gulf of Argolis, making the site valuable for landscape observation and local history.
