Lake Varese is a freshwater lake in the Lombardy region of northern Italy, situated north of Milan near the city of Varese. It is a relatively small lake within the pre-Alpine lake district and is used for local recreation and sports.

- Cycle the dedicated path around the lake (about 20-25 km) for uninterrupted views-bike rentals are available in Varese.
- Visit the Sacro Monte di Varese for high viewpoint perspectives down to the lake-combine with a walk through the chapels.
- Early morning is the best time for birdwatching in the reedbeds at the southern end.
- Avoid the busiest weekend promenades by starting from Gavirate and heading north along the western shore.
