Lake Trasimeno in Umbria is reached by road from Perugia (the provincial capital) in around 30-60 minutes depending on your route; major regional roads and the SS75 corridor connect Perugia to the lake area. The town of Castiglione del Lago on the western shore has a railway station on the Terontola-Chiusi line - from the station it’s a short taxi or local bus ride to lakeside villages and ferries to the lake’s islands.
