Lake Menéndez

Lake Menéndez is a glacial lake in Chubut Province in the Argentina Andes located within Los Alerces National Park.

The lake is noted for steep forested shores, clear blue water and access to nearby waterfalls and old-growth alerce forests; visitors commonly take boat trips and go trout fishing from established park launching points. The setting is valued for both its forest conservation and freshwater recreation.

Glacial action carved the valley now occupied by the lake; it has been part of the park since the protected area’s creation to conserve regional forests and freshwater ecosystems.

Geographically the lake lies in the Andean foothills of northwestern Chubut within Los Alerces National Park, accessible from park roads and trailheads rather than from large urban centres.
