Lake Gardno is a coastal lake in northern Poland’s Pomeranian Voivodeship, located close to Poland’s Baltic coast. It is one of the series of shallow coastal lakes and lagoons that sit near the shoreline of the Baltic Sea.
The lake offers low-lying shoreline habitats and reed beds that are used for local fishing and birdwatching. Access is primarily from nearby coastal roads and small villages; the area is visited mainly by day-trippers and birdwatchers rather than large numbers of tourists.
Lake Gardno was formed by post-glacial and coastal processes that separated it from the open Baltic Sea. Local communities have used the lake traditionally for fishing and small-scale harvests from the littoral zone.
