La Plata Museum

The La Plata Museum (Museo de La Plata) is a major natural history and anthropology museum in La Plata, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, founded in 1884. It houses extensive palaeontological, zoological, mineralogical and archaeological collections and serves as a research institution.

Established by Francisco P. Moreno in 1884 as part of early efforts to build scientific institutions in Argentina, the museum grew through collected specimens and fieldwork across the late 19th and 20th centuries. It became closely linked with academic and research activities in La Plata and remains an important centre for Argentine natural history research.
