How to Get to Kooyoora State Park #
Kooyoora State Park is accessed from Inglewood and St Arnaud in north-central Victoria. From Bendigo: drive northwest on the Loddon Valley Highway (A79) then follow local roads via Inglewood-approx. 70-90 km depending on route. The most visited area, Melville Caves, is signposted from the Inglewood-Rheola road; there is a small carpark and short walking tracks to the cave group.
Tips for Visiting Kooyoora State Park #
- Park is best explored on foot-park at the Melville Caves carpark and take the short walk to the cave complex rather than driving down narrow roads.
- For the best light on the granite tors and the blowholes, aim for late afternoon; spring wildflowers (September-October) are spectacular.
- There is no on-site café or fuel; stock up in Inglewood (about 15-20 minutes away).
- Watch for signage protecting Aboriginal sites-do not climb or disturb engravings and middens.
