Koločep (also known as Kalamota) is a small inhabited island in the Elaphiti archipelago off the Dalmatian coast near Dubrovnik. It is characterised by pine-covered hills, pebble beaches and two traditional settlements.
The island’s main settlements are a higher inland village and a lower coastal village, both connected by footpaths and small harbours used by local fishermen and visiting boats. Tourism is low-key, focused on swimming, walking and short boat trips.
Koločep lies within Dubrovnik-Neretva County and is one of the closest Elaphiti islands to Dubrovnik, reachable by regular passenger boats from the city. The island is car-free and lending itself to pedestrian exploration.

How to Get to Koločep #
Koločep (Koločep) is served by regular passenger ferries and fast catamarans from Dubrovnik (Gruž ferry port and the Old Town harbor). Jadrolinija and local operators run frequent crossings; the ride to Koločep takes roughly 20-30 minutes (island is about 5-6 km offshore). From Dubrovnik airport take the airport shuttle or bus to Gruž port (about 20-25 km) and walk a short distance to the ferry terminal.
On arrival the island is small and most places are within a short walk (minutes) of the ferry landing.
