Killarney is well connected by air via Kerry Airport (KIR) and by rail and coach from Cork and Dublin. For most visitors the easiest route is fly into Kerry, Cork or Shannon and continue by short coach, train or taxi into town.
Kerry Airport (KIR): Kerry Airport at Farranfore is the closest airport to Killarney with scheduled domestic and some international services. From KIR to Killarney town you can take a taxi (about 20-30 minutes) or a bus link - taxi fares are typically around €25-€40 while bus connections are cheaper and take about the same time.
Cork Airport (ORK) / Shannon (SNN): Cork and Shannon are larger alternatives with more flight options. From Cork, trains or buses via Mallow connect to Killarney with total travel times around 1.5-2 hours; Shannon offers coach links too. Bus Éireann and private coach companies (e.g., CityLink) run frequent services from these airports to Killarney.
Train: Killarney has an Iarnród Éireann railway station with direct services from Mallow and Cork; travel from Cork takes about 1-1.5 hours. Trains from Dublin require a change at Mallow and the full Dublin→Killarney journey is commonly 3-4 hours depending on connection and class.
