How to Get to Karpacz

Karpacz is a mountain resort town in the Karkonosze Mountains; the easiest public route is to Jelenia Góra by train or long-distance bus, then a short bus or taxi up to Karpacz. For convenience, many travellers arrive by car or private transfer.

By Air

Wrocław-Copernicus Airport (WRO): Wrocław is the nearest major international airport to Karpacz (about 100-110 km). From WRO take a train or bus to Wrocław Główny (20-30 min) then a regional train or bus to Jelenia Góra and a connecting bus to Karpacz (total travel time ~2.5-3.5 hours). Taxi transfers from WRO to Karpacz are possible but expensive.

Katowice or Prague airports: Depending on flight routes you may also consider Katowice (KTW) or Prague (PRG), both of which are farther and usually need a longer rail or road transfer (3-4+ hours).

By Train & Bus

Train: Karpacz does not have a mainline passenger railway station; the nearest rail hub is Jelenia Góra (Jelenia Góra station). From Jelenia Góra there are frequent buses to Karpacz (30-45 minutes).

Bus: Regular regional buses link Jelenia Góra with Karpacz and the Karkonosze resorts. Buses are the most practical public option for last-mile travel up into the mountains; buy tickets at the station or from the driver.

How to Get Around Karpacz #

Karpacz is a compact mountain town and largely walkable within the centre; many hotels, shops and eateries are clustered along the main street. Trails and lower-altitude sights are reachable on foot or by short taxi rides. There are local buses and shuttle services to nearby ski lifts and trailheads, and taxis operate seasonally. A car is handy for exploring the surrounding Karkonosze mountains, though parking in peak season can fill up.
