Kaninë Castle (Kalaja e Kaninës) is a hilltop fortress near the city of Vlorë in Vlorë County, Albania. It occupies a strategic position overlooking the Gulf of Vlorë.
Visitors encounter ruined curtain walls, defensive terraces and stretches of masonry where the castle retains its hilltop silhouette. The site provides panoramic views of the bay and coastal plain and is visited for both its ruins and its outlook across the water.
The site has fortified remains that reflect long-term military use and adaptation across late antiquity and the medieval period, with successive occupants modifying walls and towers. It functioned historically to control approaches to the coastal plain and the bay.
The castle sits on a rocky hill just inland from the Gulf of Vlorë in Vlorë County, a short drive from the city of Vlorë on Albania’s southwestern coast.
