The Kamnik-Savinja Alps are a subrange of the Southern Limestone Alps that rise between northern Slovenia and the adjacent Austrian border region. The range is characterised by steep limestone peaks, narrow ridges and glaciated valleys.

High points include Grintovec (2,558 m) and Kočna (about 2,540 m), which are popular with hikers and climbers. The area contains a network of marked trails and mountain huts used as bases for ascents and multi-day routes.

Geographically the range sits above the Savinja River valley and the town of Kamnik to the northwest, forming a prominent alpine backdrop to nearby lowland towns.

  • Recreation: Marked trails and alpine huts provide access for summer hiking and winter ski-touring; routes range from steep day hikes to multi-day ridge traverses.
