Kamerlengo Castle
Castle Medieval fortress overlooking Trogir's harbor and old town
Medieval fortress in Trogir with ramparts, towers and sea-facing terraces; visitors climb the battlements for coastal views and to study Venetian-era fortifications.
Kamerlengo Castle is a Venetian-era fortress on the western edge of the historic town of Trogir in Croatia, built in the 15th century to protect the harbor and town. Its solid stone walls and tower are a dominant feature of Trogir’s waterfront.
The fortress comprises a rectangular plan with thick curtain walls, a central courtyard and a prominent cylindrical tower that commands views over the marina and Adriatic. The architecture reflects military building practices used by the Republic of Venice along the Dalmatian coast.
Constructed under Venetian rule in the 1400s, the castle formed part of Trogir’s defensive ensemble and has been conserved and adapted for public use in modern times. It is now a cultural landmark used for tourism and occasional events.
Kamerlengo occupies a waterfront position on the western side of Trogir’s old town island, approximately 25-30 km west of the city of Split, facing the marina and Adriatic sea channels.
