Main image

Jervis Bay National Park is a protected area on the south coast of New South Wales that conserves shoreline, coastal heath and nearshore environments around Jervis Bay. The bay and its beaches are known regionally for very pale sand and clear coastal waters.

Marked headlands and shore-access tracks provide short coastal walks and viewpoints over the bay, and swimmers and snorkellers frequent protected coves and beaches when conditions are calm. The area is also valued for boat-based wildlife viewing, including dolphins and seasonal whale migrations.

The park forms part of the wider Jervis Bay and South Coast conservation landscape, and it is managed by NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service to protect both terrestrial and coastal marine-adjacent habitats. Recreational use is concentrated at accessible beachheads and official tracks.

Geographically it lies on Jervis Bay on the New South Wales south coast, roughly 200 kilometres south of Sydney, and is adjacent to the towns and villages of the Jervis Bay area such as Huskisson and Vincentia.

  • Coast and beaches: The park protects coastal heath, eucalyptus woodland and several kilometres of shoreline with sandy beaches and rocky headlands; water clarity and light-colored sand are notable features of the bay.
  • Marine wildlife: Marine mammals including resident dolphins and seasonal migratory whales can commonly be seen offshore from headlands and beaches during migration months.
