Jamanxim National Park is a federally designated protected area in the state of Pará in northern Brazil, set within the Amazon rainforest. The park conserves rainforest and river ecosystems in the Jamanxim river basin.
The area is characterised by dense tropical forest, river channels and high biodiversity typical of the southern Amazon. Access is remote and typically requires river transport or long overland travel; there are no large developed visitor facilities inside the park.
The park was created as part of Brazil’s network of federal protected areas to conserve Amazonian habitats and species. Management focuses on limiting deforestation, illegal logging and other pressures on the forested landscape.
Geographically it lies in the southern part of Pará state in the eastern Amazon; the landscape is lowland tropical forest drained by tributaries of the Amazon basin. Nearest settled towns are small and access from major regional cities requires multi-stage travel by road and river.
