How to Get to Hvide Sande#
Hvide Sande is a small fishing town on the West Jutland coast. There is no direct rail service; visitors normally fly into Billund or Karup and complete the trip by regional bus or car, with local Midttrafik buses providing onward connections.
Billund Airport (BLL): Billund is the nearest large international airport (about 120-150 km depending on route). From Billund you can rent a car (drive ~1.5-2 hours) or take regional buses to Ringkøbing and transfer to local Midttrafik buses to Hvide Sande; taxi transfers are also available.
Karup Airport (KRP): Karup is closer (around 60-90 km) and handles domestic and some regional flights. From Karup you can take regional buses to nearby towns (e.g., Holstebro or Ringkøbing) and then a local bus to Hvide Sande; driving is typically 1-1.5 hours.
Train: Denmark’s rail network does not reach Hvide Sande directly. The nearest major rail stations are Holstebro and Varde; from those stations you must continue by bus or hire a taxi. Train journeys are operated by DSB and Arriva.
Bus: Midttrafik regional buses serve Hvide Sande from nearby towns such as Ringkøbing and Nr. Nebel. From Ringkøbing the local bus to Hvide Sande takes about 20-40 minutes; intercity buses from larger hubs (Esbjerg, Varde, Holstebro) are the normal way to reach the town.
