Hohe Acht
Mountain Highest Eifel mountain offering hiking and views
The Hohe Acht, the Eifel’s highest summit, offers forested hiking trails, a summit tower and regional panoramas; walkers also combine visits here with other Eifel attractions such as the Nürburgring area.
Hohe Acht is the highest mountain of the Eifel range in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, and reaches an elevation of about 747 metres. A prominent summit tower provides a recognised viewpoint over the surrounding volcanic landscape.
The summit area is used for hiking and short walks; trails and a minor access road lead to viewpoints and the stone observation tower. On clear days visitors can see extensive Eifel uplands and neighbouring highlands from the tower platform.
The peak was developed as a local landmark in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and the summit tower is a product of that period, serving as a lookout and local monument. Over time the site has become a common day-hike destination for visitors to the Eifel.
