On the Perachora peninsula, the Heraion preserves temple ruins, altars and sea views; visitors walk trails and examine Classical‑era archaeological remains.
The Heraion of Perachora is an ancient sanctuary dedicated to the goddess Hera on the Perachora peninsula at the entrance to the Gulf of Corinth in southern Greece. It is an archaeological complex with remains dating mainly to the Archaic and Classical periods.
The sanctuary was established in the Archaic period, with its principal temple structures dating to the 6th century BCE and with continued use and modification into the Hellenistic and Roman eras. It functioned as a religious centre connected to nearby coastal communities and to the region around ancient Corinth.
The Heraion sits on the Perachora peninsula near the modern town of Loutraki in the Peloponnese, on the north shore of the Gulf of Corinth.
- Access and terrain: The site occupies a rocky coastal position with walking routes between the sanctuary ruins and small coastal coves, offering both archaeological interest and coastal views.

- Harbour area (Limeni): A small ancient harbour area and coastal installations that served ritual and practical access to the site from the Gulf of Corinth.

Tips for Visiting Heraion of Perachora #
- Plan to visit in the cooler morning or late-afternoon hours-the archaeological remains are exposed and largely unshaded, so early or late light also makes for better photos and fewer visitors.
- Use the main road from Perachora/Loutraki and the short unpaved approach to the site; the sanctuary sits close to the coast, so allow time to walk the small paths that link the temple ruins and the shoreline.
- Don't miss walking down toward the small coastal terraces and the ancient harbor remains-many visitors only see the temple terrace and miss the pleasant, open coastal views that give context to the sanctuary.
