Heathcote National Park is a protected area in New South Wales, Australia noted for its sandstone gorges and remnant bushland. The park preserves native vegetation and offers recreational access for bushwalking and nature observation.
Trail networks run along creek valleys and across sandstone plateaus, with scenic lookouts and sections of rainforest in sheltered gullies. The park is used for day hikes, birdwatching and short canyon-style walks rather than developed recreation facilities.
Designated to protect remnant bushland and sandstone features near Sydney, the park has been managed for conservation and low-impact recreation. Management has focused on track maintenance, fire control and preserving native vegetation.
The park sits on the southern fringe of the Sydney metropolitan area in the Sutherland Shire region, accessible from suburbs to the north and east and surrounded by urban and semi-rural landscapes.
- Terrain and trails: Characterised by sandstone plateaus and deep creek gorges with walking tracks that range from short walks to longer bushwalks requiring fitness and caution after rain.
