How to Get to Gusinje
Gusinje is a mountain town in northeastern Montenegro reachable by road from Podgorica or neighbouring regional centres. There are no direct commercial flights into Gusinje - plan for a bus or private transfer from the nearest airports or railheads.
Podgorica Airport (TGD): Podgorica is the closest major Montenegrin airport with domestic and international connections. From TGD you can reach Gusinje by bus or private transfer: expect a drive of roughly 2.5-3.5 hours depending on route and border crossings; coach options and private transfers typically range from €25-€80 for the longer door-to-door trip.
Tivat Airport (TIV): Tivat serves the coastal region but is farther from Gusinje (around 3-4+ hours by road). From TIV you need a bus or car through mountainous routes; transfers are longer and can be more expensive than from Podgorica.
Train: Montenegro’s rail network does not serve Gusinje directly. The nearest useful railhead is Podgorica (for connections within Montenegro) or Bar/Shkodër across the border; you will still need a bus/taxi for the final leg.
Bus: Long-distance buses and minibuses (marshrutkas) are the common way to reach Gusinje from Podgorica, Plav or other regional centres. Buses are relatively frequent on main routes but timetables can change seasonally; expect multi-hour journeys through mountain roads and modest fares (typically low tens of euros on intercity legs). Private taxis/minibuses are common for connections where scheduled buses are sparse.
