The park offers forest walks, waterfalls and opportunities to see Atlantic Forest flora and fauna, including native tree species and forest-dependent wildlife. Trails run through montane and submontane forest, and the park contributes to regional water supply protection.
Guaricana was created to conserve remaining fragments of Atlantic Forest and the headwaters of rivers that flow to the coastal plain; it forms part of broader conservation efforts along the Serra do Mar. Protection has aimed to reduce deforestation and secure corridors between forest patches.
