Großer Hundstod is a mountain in the Berchtesgaden Alps on the Germany-Austria border, with a summit elevation of approximately 2,593 metres. It is part of the Steinernes Meer high plateau.
The mountain is a natural alpine formation that has been part of regional alpine use for grazing and navigation; it became a recreational climbing and hiking destination as mountain tourism developed in the 19th and 20th centuries.
Located in the northern section of the Berchtesgaden Alps, it sits near the border of Bavaria (Germany) and Salzburg (Austria) and is approached from mountain huts and trailheads on the German side.
