Grmožur is a small fortified islet in Skadar (Skadarsko) Lake in Montenegro, notable as a compact military and prison outpost set on open water. The island is a distinctive, isolated landmark within the lake.

The islet is primarily viewed from boat trips on Skadar Lake and from nearby lakeside settlements; its compact fortifications and solitary setting make it an obvious photographic subject on lake cruises. There are no regular on-site visitor facilities.

How to Get to Grmožur #

Grmožur is an island fortress in Lake Skadar reached from the lakeside village of Virpazar. Drive or take transport to Virpazar (Virpazar lies roughly 30-35 km southwest of Podgorica) and join one of the local boat trips or hire a small boat from Virpazar to the island - the boat transfer across the lake takes only a few minutes. Parking and visitor boats depart from the Virpazar quay.
