Grintovec

Grintovec is the highest mountain in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps of northern Slovenia, with an elevation of 2,558 metres. It is a dominant limestone peak widely visited by hikers and climbers from nearby valleys.

The summit can be reached via several established routes that cross alpine ridges and require basic mountaineering experience for exposed sections; the ascent is a common objective for Slovenian alpinists. The mountain offers panoramic views of the surrounding ranges from the top.

Historically the peak has long featured in local alpine activity and mapping of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps; modern routes are waymarked in places and serve both day hikers and more technical climbers.

Grintovec sits within the mountainous landscape north of Ljubljana and near towns in the Kamnik and Kranj regions; trailheads are accessed from valley roads serving the Kamnik Bistrica and Luce valleys.
