Aegean is a full-service regional carrier based in Greece that focuses on domestic and European short- to medium-haul travel. From a traveler’s perspective it offers a traditional short-haul full-service experience with both economy and a marketed business-class product on many flights, plus standard onboard refreshments on most sectors.

The airline’s operations are primarily Greece-centered, connecting the mainland with the islands and linking Greece to destinations across Europe and the eastern Mediterranean. Aegean is a member of Star Alliance, which expands its reach through alliance partners and codeshares.

Miles+Bonus - Aegean's Frequent Flyer Program

Aegean’s frequent flyer program is called Miles+Bonus. Members earn miles for flown segments and through partner airlines and non-air partners; earned miles can be redeemed for award flights, upgrades and other travel benefits within the program and across Star Alliance partners. The program includes elite tiers (commonly referred to at the higher levels as Silver and Gold) that grant benefits such as priority services and, at Gold level, Star Alliance Gold recognition. Because Miles+Bonus confers Star Alliance benefits and award access across the alliance, it is generally worthwhile to credit Aegean flights to the program if you fly the carrier or other Star Alliance partners regularly.

Where Aegean Flies

Aegean’s network centers on Athens Eleftherios Venizelos (ATH) and extends across Greece’s domestic island network as well as short- and medium-haul international routes around Europe and the eastern Mediterranean. The airline has a notable presence at regional Greek airports such as Corfu (CFU), Heraklion (HER), Rhodes (RHO) and Thessaloniki (SKG), plus seasonal links to airports like Kalamata (KLX) and Larnaca (LCA). Most routes are point-to-point domestic or intra-Europe services connecting Greek islands and major European cities; Star Alliance membership and codeshares broaden onward connections through partner carriers.

Aircraft and Cabin Classes

Aegean operates a narrowbody fleet built around the Airbus A320 family, including A320 and A321 variants and newer neo-type aircraft for higher-density European routes. Services are concentrated on short- and medium-haul sectors, so cabin offerings reflect that profile: a standard economy cabin and a marketed business-class product on many routes that provides priority services and more flexible tickets; there are no long-haul lie-flat business seats in the fleet.

Aircraft types operated: Airbus A320-232, Airbus A320-214, Airbus A320-271N, Airbus A321-231, Airbus A321-271NX

Tips for Flying Aegean Airlines

  • Check fare rules carefully: lower-priced fares often exclude checked baggage and seat selection, so add them at booking if needed.
  • Credit flights to Miles+Bonus when possible - it earns Star Alliance status that brings lounge access and priority benefits.
  • On domestic Greek and short European sectors, business-class is a premium front-cabin product rather than a lie-flat service, so don’t expect long-haul style seats.
  • During summer peak travel, book island connections and preferred seats well in advance to avoid sell-outs and higher fees.
  • If you need lounge access, expect it to be tied to business fares or Miles+Bonus Gold/Star Alliance Gold status rather than all ticket types.
