Gramos
Mountain Mountain range on Albanian–Greek border, rugged terrain
Along the Albania-Greece border, Mount Gramos features alpine meadows, karst terrain and hiking routes; trekkers pass mountain lakes and sparse highland villages.
Gramos is a mountain massif on the border region between Albania and Greece, forming part of the mountainous terrain in the southern Balkans. The area is composed of highland ridges and alpine landscapes.
The mountain range has long marked part of the historical borderlands in the region and has been shaped by local pastoral and rural communities. Contemporary administrative boundaries place sections of the massif in Albania and neighbouring Greece.
Gramos sits in the borderlands of southeastern Albania and adjacent northwestern Greece within the broader Pindus mountain zone, featuring steep slopes and remote highland valleys.
