Protected woodlands in Western Australia’s goldfields region with jarrah and mallee trees; visitors come for wildflower season, birdwatching and low‑impact bushwalking.
Goldfields Woodlands National Park is a protected area in Western Australia that conserves remnant eucalypt woodlands and associated flora and fauna within the Goldfields-Esperance region. The park protects woodland, granite outcrops and seasonal drainage lines characteristic of the transition between the Wheatbelt and the Goldfields.
Recreational opportunities are generally low-impact and include birdwatching, short walks and nature photography rather than developed visitor facilities. The park is valued for its native vegetation, seasonal wildflowers and as habitat for local wildlife rather than for extensive tourist infrastructure.
The protected area was established to conserve representative woodland communities in a region affected by agricultural and mining development. Management focuses on conserving native vegetation, controlling invasive species and linking habitat patches across the wider landscape.
The park lies inland in southern Western Australia in the broader Goldfields region, east of the Wheatbelt and accessible from regional towns along the Great Eastern Highway. It is several hours’ drive east of Perth and is visited primarily by regional residents and naturalists.
- Conservation value: Part of a network of protected woodlands that conserve native eucalypt woodland and mallee habitats across the Goldfields region.
