Puerta de Elvira is a medieval city gate in Granada, Andalusia, Spain and one of the surviving fragments of the city’s historic defensive walls. It occupies a gateway position on the street known as Calle Elvira.
The gate is visited as a historic remnant within Granada’s old town and is a convenient marker for routes between the city centre and the Albaicín neighbourhood. It is close to other heritage streets and sites in central Granada.
The gate dates to the medieval period of the city’s development as part of the defensive walls; what remains today represents later stonework and conservation of the original gateway line. It has long served as an entrance point on the eastern side of the historic core.
