Gantrisch is a mountain massif in the Bernese Prealps, Canton of Bern, with a summit elevation around 2,175 metres. It forms the core of a regional nature park that protects local landscapes and recreational routes.
Marked trails lead to the summit ridge and through alpine meadows and forested slopes, with viewpoints offering wide vistas of the Bernese Alps and surrounding valleys. The area is used for hiking, day trips and seasonal outdoor activities along routes that connect to nearby mountain passes.
The massif has long been used for alpine pasture and local mountain agriculture; in recent decades it has been integrated into conservation and recreation planning to balance visitor access with landscape protection. Local huts and managed trails support hikers and outdoor visitors.
Gantrisch sits within the Canton of Bern in west-central Switzerland, south of the city of Bern and forming part of the Prealps that separate the Swiss Plateau from higher alpine ranges. Access is commonly gained from roads and passes on the massif’s flanks, including areas near Gurnigel.
