The Galtee Mountains are a compact mountain range in Ireland’s Munster province, straddling County Tipperary and County Limerick. The range is the highest inland mountain group in Ireland.
The Galtees have long been used for grazing and local rural activities; they are commonly referenced in Irish topography and local culture. Over time the range has become a recreational area for hillwalking and nature observation.
The range runs roughly north-south on the border between counties Tipperary and Limerick in south-central Ireland, within the province of Munster.

How to Get to Galtee Mountains #
Drive from Mitchelstown or Cahir to car parks at the Glen of Aherlow or from the east via the Black Road. Local roads access trailheads; public transport to remote trailheads is limited.

- Use local mountain guides for ridge walks - weather can change quickly and some tracks are rough.
- Park at the Glen of Aherlow or use the Black Road approach for Galtymore ascents.
