Funafuti International Airport

There is one small passenger terminal building with very limited facilities; check‑in and arrivals are handled in the same building and boarding is usually by steps onto aircraft on the apron.

The terminal is small enough that there is no inter‑terminal transfer - everything is within a walkable area immediately adjacent to the runway and apron.

Because Funafuti is an atoll, distances are short: most guesthouses and the town centre are within a few kilometres of the airfield and can often be reached on foot or by short taxi/bike ride.

• Walking / local transport: The majority of destinations on Funafuti are within walking distance or a short bicycle/taxi ride of the terminal.
• Taxi / arranged pick‑up: Many guesthouses provide airport pickup; taxis are informal and arranged locally.
• Driving: There is no rental car market of scale on the atoll; local transport is mainly by foot, bicycle, motorbike or taxi.

Expect extremely limited facilities: a small arrivals area, a kiosk or two for drinks/snacks when flights operate, and very limited retail. There are no dedicated airline lounges.

Wi‑Fi and charging: Wi‑Fi availability and charging points are minimal and can be unreliable - plan accordingly. Luggage: there is no formal left‑luggage service. Accessibility: the compact, ground‑level terminal is simple to navigate but services for passengers with reduced mobility are limited.

Accommodation on Funafuti is limited to guesthouses and a handful of small hotels within or close to the main village; several properties offer airport pick‑up on request.

• Hotels are generally within a 10-20 minute walk of the airfield; many are family‑run guesthouses rather than international chains.
• For long layovers: bring a light travel blanket or book a guesthouse room - there are no official transit hotels or sleep pods at the airport.
