Fryderyk Chopin Museum

The Fryderyk Chopin Museum in Warsaw is a national museum dedicated to the life and work of the composer Fryderyk Chopin, housed in the historic Ostrogski Palace. The institution was founded in 1934 and now presents a large collection of Chopin-related artifacts.

The museum’s displays include manuscripts, letters, first editions, portraiture and historical instruments alongside multimedia presentations that trace Chopin’s biography and musical output. Galleries are arranged to follow thematic and chronological aspects of Chopin’s life and influence, with interactive elements introduced during the 21st century redesign.

The museum collection was established in the interwar period and has expanded through acquisitions and donations; the site in Ostrogski Palace became the museum’s long-term home. A major renovation and reinterpretation of the permanent exhibition was completed and opened to the public in 2010.

Situated on Okólnik Street in central Warsaw, the museum is close to the Saxon Garden and other central cultural institutions in Poland’s capital.
