Fóia (Pico do Fóia) is the highest point of the Algarve region in southern Portugal, rising to 902 metres above sea level on the Serra de Monchique ridge. It is the region’s dominant high point and local landmark.
The summit area provides panoramic viewpoints over the Algarve coast and surrounding hills, with an access road that brings visitors close to the top and short walking routes to the highest point. Telecommunications masts and a small visitor area mark the summit precinct.
The Monchique massif including Fóia has long been a local reference point for settlements in the western Algarve; the summit has been used in modern times for communications infrastructure.
Fóia sits in the Serra de Monchique in western Algarve, near the town of Monchique in the Faro district, inland from the southern Portuguese coast.

How to Get to Fóia (mountain) #
Drive from Monchique town (about 15-20 minutes) via the M543 up the mountain road to the summit parking area. There are short walking trails from the parking area to the highest point.

- Drive or cycle up the winding road from Monchique town - the summit has a small parking area and viewpoints.
- Bring a windproof jacket; higher elevation changes the weather quickly despite Algarve heat below.
- Watch for paragliders in season - the peak's slopes are a known launch area.
