Fitzroy Island National Park

Fitzroy Island National Park is a protected island reserve off the coast of Queensland, Australia, in the Great Barrier Reef region near Cairns. The island is a rainforest-fringed volcanic landmass surrounded by coral reef and sheltered bays, used for day visits and short-stay tourism.

Beaches, coral-fringed snorkelling sites and short walking trails to viewpoints are the main attractions; there is also a small resort and visitor facilities near the ferry landing. The island’s marine environment supports easy shore snorkelling and boat-based reef tours.

The island is a continental island of volcanic origin later colonised by rainforest species; it has been valued for recreation and conservation within the broader Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. Management focuses on protecting reef and island habitats while providing visitor access.

Fitzroy Island lies about 29 kilometres southeast of Cairns in the Coral Sea and is reached by a regular ferry service from Cairns harbour. The island sits within the Great Barrier Reef region of northeastern Queensland and is administered as a national park.

• Nudey Beach: A sheltered white-sand beach on the island's northeast shore, popular for swimming and snorkelling and reachable by a short shoreline walk from the ferry landing.
• Summit walk: A marked walking track that climbs from the ferry terminal to the island's central viewpoint, offering views back to Cairns and across the Coral Sea.
