Federsee

A shallow fen-lake and peatland complex in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, noted for its wetland ecology and important prehistoric archaeological finds. It sits within a protected nature reserve near the town of Bad Buchau.

The lake and surrounding peatlands have long been used and studied for their archaeological value; excavations in the 19th and 20th centuries uncovered well-preserved wooden structures and tools that show human activity in the area during the Neolithic. Conservation measures have preserved the wetland and its archaeological deposits.

Located in the Upper Swabian region of Baden-Württemberg, the lake lies near the town of Bad Buchau in the district of Biberach, surrounded by low-lying marsh and agricultural land.
