The Europaturm is a telecommunications tower in Frankfurt am Main, Hesse, notable for its height and role in regional broadcasting. The reinforced‑concrete tower has a tall mast and a multi-level technical and service section.
As a landmark it is visible across Frankfurt and often photographed for its scale relative to the city skyline. The tower’s technical platforms and former public facilities sit well above surrounding buildings and serve transmission functions for radio and television.
Completed in the late 20th century, the structure was built as part of postwar telecommunications expansion and has since remained a dedicated broadcast and communications mast. At various times the tower included public amenities such as a restaurant and viewing levels that were later closed or restricted.
The Europaturm stands in the Ginnheim quarter of Frankfurt, northwest of the central business district, and is prominent from many points across the city and the Main River corridor.

Tips for Visiting Europaturm #
- Approach the tower from the Palmengarten side to see it framed against trees - most postcards show it from the wrong angle.
- Don't expect elevators to a public observation deck: the tower's restaurant and observation platforms have been intermittently closed since the late 1990s; check local news before planning a visit.
- Call it by its local nickname, "Ginnheimer Spargel" (the Ginnheim asparagus), and watch Frankfurters nod in recognition.
