Erbeskopf is the highest mountain in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate at about 816 metres above sea level, located in the Hunsrück range. It is the region’s principal high point and a local centre for outdoor recreation.
The summit area offers walking trails and viewpoints with broad views over the Hunsrück and surrounding countryside. In winter the mountain supports ski runs, toboggan slopes and related facilities; in summer visitors use the paths for hiking and mountain biking.
The area has long been used for forestry and recreation; 20th-century development added basic winter-sports infrastructure and marked trails to serve visitors. There are no large urban structures on the summit beyond visitor facilities and communication installations.
Erbeskopf sits in the Hunsrück mountains of Rhineland-Palatinate, near small towns such as Thalfang, and is accessed by local roads leading into the Hunsrück uplands.
