Ellenborough Falls

Ellenborough Falls is a plunge waterfall in New South Wales, Australia, set on a steep escarpment in the coastal highlands. It is often cited as one of the taller single-drop waterfalls in the country.

A formal lookout and picnic area give visitors direct views of the waterfall and the wooded valley below, and a short walking track provides closer vantage points. The falls are most dramatic after periods of rain when the stream flow increases.

The waterfall and surrounding gorge are natural features carved by the local river system over geological time. The site has been developed in recent decades with basic visitor facilities to provide safe viewing and short walks.

Ellenborough Falls sits on the escarpment of New South Wales’ mid-north coast highlands within a rural area sometimes referred to by the nearby settlement name Ellenborough. It is inland from the coastal plain in the state’s Mid North Coast region.
