Dundee Island is a small, largely ice-covered island off the northeastern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula, located in the vicinity of the Joinville Island group. It lies in the Southern Ocean at high southern latitudes and is part of the Antarctic environment.
Access is remote and seasonal; the island is visited only by scientific teams or occasional Antarctic expedition vessels passing the peninsula. The shoreline, sea ice and cliffs provide habitat for seabirds and marine mammals typical of the region.
The island was charted during 19th- and 20th-century Antarctic exploration and has no permanent population. It has been used only intermittently for scientific observation and as part of broader mapping of the peninsula region.
Sits off the northeastern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula within the Joinville Island area, at roughly 63.48°S, 55.97°W. The nearest large Antarctic landmass is the peninsula itself; there are no nearby towns or settlements.
