Čumbier (commonly spelled Ďumbier) is a mountain summit in central Slovakia and is the highest peak of the Low Tatras at 2,043 metres. It is a prominent hiking and climbing objective within the Low Tatras mountain range.
Marked trails lead to the summit from surrounding passes and ridges, and the peak is frequented by hikers in summer and ski-tourers in winter; the summit offers wide views across the Low Tatras and neighboring ranges. Facilities and lifts on nearby Chopok serve as common access points for routes that include the summit.
The mountain is part of the Low Tatras massif and lies within the administrative Banská Bystrica Region; it falls inside protected mountain territory managed for both recreation and conservation. It sits amid alpine and subalpine terrain typical of central Slovakia.

How to Get to Ďumbier #
From Banská Bystrica (about 55 km west), drive or take regional buses towards Brezno and then to the mountain villages of Šumiac or Pohorelá. Popular trailheads: Čertovica pass (approx. 18 km from Brezno) and the Šumiac trailhead. Trails are well-marked; local bus services connect main towns to trailheads seasonally.

- Start early in summer to avoid afternoon thunderstorms common in the Low Tatras.
- Bring layers - summit can be windy even on warm days; the last 200-300 m gain is exposed.
