The Drususstein is a Roman funerary monument in Mainz (ancient Mogontiacum) erected in honour of the general Nero Claudius Drusus. It survives as a pronounced stone mound and core that once formed part of a larger sepulchral structure.
Originally part of Roman-era monumental burial practice, the surviving structure is a rare above-ground remnant of Mainz’s Roman past and has been studied and conserved as an archaeological feature. The monument’s visible remains date to the Augustan period and later antiquity.
The Drususstein stands within Mainz’s urban area near the Rhine River, marking the city’s long history as a Roman military and administrative centre.
