The park preserves a rugged river landscape of cliffs, rocky slopes and riparian habitats that support diverse wildlife.
Key attractions are the deep river gorge, cliffs used by nesting raptors and a network of small roads and viewpoints along the Portuguese bank that offer panoramic views over the river and across into Spain.
