Doclea (also Duklja) is the archaeological remains of an ancient Illyrian and Roman town located near modern Podgorica in Montenegro. The site preserves visible ruins from Roman and late antique occupation.
Doclea developed under Roman rule as a regional urban centre and continued into late antiquity as a bishopric. Over time the settlement declined and was eventually abandoned, leaving archaeological remains that have been investigated in modern excavations.
The site stands on hills overlooking the Zeta plain approximately a few kilometres north of central Podgorica and is approached by local roads from the capital.
