Detroit Plateau
Plateau Elevated Antarctic plateau on the Antarctic Peninsula
Detroit Plateau is an ice-covered plateau on the northern Antarctic Peninsula in Graham Land. It forms part of the higher, glaciated interior of the peninsula and gives rise to several outlet glaciers.
The plateau is primarily of scientific interest and is visited by research expeditions rather than by tourists. It was surveyed and mapped during mid-20th-century Antarctic survey work and appears on modern charts of Graham Land.
Geographically it lies inland from the peninsula’s northern coast and contributes to the ice flows and glacier systems that drain toward surrounding coasts.
- Glaciation: The plateau is a largely ice-covered upland on the northern Antarctic Peninsula that feeds several outlet glaciers and forms part of the peninsula's central glaciated high ground.
