Dereše is a mountain peak in the Low Tatras (Nízke Tatry) of Slovakia with an elevation of about 2,004 metres. It forms part of the main ridge near other prominent summits such as Chopok and Ďumbier and is a visible landmark from the surrounding valleys.
The peak is characterised by broad, open ridgelines and areas of loose rock and scree, making it popular with hikers and backcountry skiers who traverse the ridge in summer and winter. On clear days the summit provides wide views across the Low Tatras and toward neighboring ranges.
The mountain is part of the Low Tatras mountain system in central Slovakia and lies within the Žilina Region’s mountainous area, with access commonly from the Jasná/Chopok side of the range.
- Terrain caution: The summit is exposed and covered in loose rock and scree, which can make the route slippery and requires caution, especially in winter conditions.
