The Deodoro Aquatics Centre is an aquatics venue in the Deodoro sports cluster of Rio de Janeiro, built for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It was planned to provide competition and warm-up pools and spectator facilities as part of the wider park.

The venue contains a competition-standard pool and an adjacent warm-up pool, along with temporary spectator seating and athlete support areas used during major events. Outside of large competitions it is used for training, local events and sports development activities.

The facility was developed in the run-up to the 2016 Games as part of Rio’s distributed Olympic infrastructure and has since been used for sports programming in the Deodoro district. Some components were designed as temporary or modular to meet event-time capacity needs.

The centre sits within Deodoro Olympic Park in the Deodoro neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, in the northwestern part of the city.

How to Get to Deodoro Aquatics Centre #

The Deodoro Aquatics Centre is in the Deodoro neighbourhood of Rio de Janeiro, inside the Deodoro Olympic Park (west of the city centre). From central Rio (Centro) you can take the SuperVia commuter train toward Deodoro and alight at Deodoro station; from there a short taxi or local bus will take you into the Olympic Park (or be prepared for a 15-25 minute walk depending on the venue entrance used).

By car it’s in the western zone of Rio - roughly 20-25 km from downtown Centro depending on route (use Avenida Brasil and local Deodoro roads) and there is visitor parking for events.
