Dendra

Dendra is an archaeological site in the Argolid (Peloponnese) in Greece, consisting of a Mycenaean cemetery with multiple chamber and tholos tombs and notable Bronze Age finds. It is primarily significant for material evidence of Mycenaean funerary and martial practices.

The site produced a range of grave goods, including a rare nearly complete bronze body armor known as the Dendra panoply, which is dated to the Late Bronze Age. The tombs at Dendra provide evidence for social and military aspects of Mycenaean culture.

Dendra was used as a burial area during the Late Bronze Age (the Mycenaean period) and has been the subject of archaeological investigation that revealed its tombs and associated artifacts. Finds from the site have contributed to understanding Mycenaean funerary practices and armament.

The site lies in the Argolid plain of the Peloponnese, close to other Mycenaean centres such as Midea and not far from the towns of Argos and Nafplio.
