Debar Lake Monastery

Debar Lake is an artificial reservoir in western North Macedonia formed on the Black Drin river by damming near the town of Debar. The lake stores water for hydroelectric generation and irrigation and forms a prominent local landscape feature.

The shoreline and surrounding hills provide scenic viewpoints and areas for local recreation, fishing and small-boat access. The reservoir was created during the 20th century as part of regional water-management and energy infrastructure.

The lake sits close to the town of Debar in western North Macedonia, in a mountainous region near the border with Albania. The setting combines steep shoreline and wooded slopes around the reservoir.
